Is Online Learning Right for You?
Online learning gives you the flexibility to earn your high school diploma on your schedule. To help you decide whether this program is a good fit, ask yourself:
- Can you commit at least 8–10 hours per week to making progress in your courses?
- Do you have access to a computer with internet? If not, are you able to reliably access technology through a local community resource?
- Are you comfortable working independently, using the tools and guidance built into the online learning platform?
- Are you self-motivated and ready to complete your diploma at your own pace?
If you answered “yes,” you’re likely a great fit.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the high school diploma program really tuition free?
Yes. The program is offered at no cost to eligible Arkansas adults who are 21 years of age or older.
Are the courses offered in languages other than English?
Excel High School courses are written in English. However, the learning platform includes built-in tools—like translation and text-to-speech features—that can support students who need help reading or understanding the material. These tools do not replace English instruction, but they can make learning more accessible.
How long does it take to finish the program?
Completion time varies based on how many credits you transfer and how much time you can commit each week. You will have up to 24 months to finish the program, but many students complete their remaining courses in 3–12 months.
Excel High School accepts up to 16 transfer credits. After we review your transcript, any remaining required courses will be loaded into your online learning portal. You’ll work through your courses one subject at a time (for example, completing English courses in grade order), but you can work on any of the six courses available in your portal as you move through the program.
How do I get help if I have questions?
Student support is provided through Help Desk Tickets inside the online learning platform. Our academic support team—made up of trained educators—will respond to your question and help guide you through challenges.
Our support team is available during standard business hours, and you can submit tickets 24/7.
Who creates the courses? Are instructors involved?
All Excel High School courses are created by credentialed curriculum developers and licensed educators. The curriculum is delivered through our online learning platform, which also includes tools like BRYTE, our built-in AI learning assistant, to support comprehension and provide guided practice.
You’ll have access to our academic support team through the Help Desk, where trained educators can assist with questions, coursework clarity, and general guidance whenever you need help.
What are the graduation requirements?
To earn your diploma, you must complete 21.5 credits. This includes a combination of:
- English – 4 credits
- Math – 3 credits
- Science – 3 credits
- Social Studies – 3.5 credits
- Health/PE – 1 credit
- Fine Arts – 1 credit
- Electives – 6 credits
Excel High School’s graduation requirements are based on the Minnesota Department of Education standards. Students earn a regionally accredited high school diploma that is recognized nationwide.
How will I know how many credits I still need?
Once you enroll, you need to have your former high school send us your official school transcript. Our team will review it and award as many transferable credits as possible.
Because schools use different credit systems, your transcript may list more credits than our system requires. At Excel High School, 1 credit = one full year of study, while some schools award 1 credit per semester (2 per year) or 1 credit per trimester (3 per year). We will convert your credits into our system and provide you with a clear graduation plan showing exactly what you have left to complete.
Can I use my diploma for employment, college, or the military?
Yes. Your diploma from Excel High School is regionally accredited and accepted by employers, colleges, and military branches. Graduates are prepared to continue their education or advance their careers.
